Local housing programs receive state funding boost

Several Anchorage housing programs with homes in Mountain View are set to receive hundreds of thousands of dollars through the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation’s homeless assistance program.

The $5.9 million in total funding includes state capital money, according to a Thursday announcement. Awarded to 28 organizations in 13 communities statewide, AHFC said the money is expected to help serve about 12,500 Alaskans struggling to put a roof over their heads.

RurAL CAP, Shiloh Community Housing, Inc., Alaska Community Mental Health Services and Safe Harbor Inn — all of which offer housing services in the Mountain View area — will collectively receive more than $600,000 of the total award.
