Heavy morning rainfall flooded parts of a few neighborhood streets and prompted the Anchorage Police Department to shut down a section of Mountain View Drive Thursday morning.
One westbound lane of the road between Price Street and Taylor Street was closed shortly before 7:30 a.m., according to APD. Several inches of water had accumulated off the curb in front of the Shell gas station over the hour leading up to the closure, and cars slowed to pass through it, water spraying up over windshields as rain continued to fall. Another large puddle flooded an intersection in front of the Mountain View Boys & Girls Club.
