Hundreds of Anchorage kids listened to music, played games, did crafts, ate ice cream and browsed through boxes of free books at thread’s ninth annual Book Party in the Park Thursday afternoon.

Thread — a statewide childcare and development nonprofit that operates out of Mountain View’s Success by 6 building — gathered 6,500 donated books to distribute at the event.
