Park foundation hosts Davis Park cleanup

A citywide park cleanup series is set to begin Saturday in Davis Park.

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., volunteers are scheduled to repaint bollards and the entrance sign and clear trash from the woods in the park. The cleanup series is organized by the Anchorage Park Foundation, which said more than 50 people have already signed up to clean and renovate Davis Park.

The event also welcomes drop-in volunteers, the foundation said in a release Friday. It’s one of several neighborhood cleanups taking place this spring. The Mountain View Community Council’s weeklong neighborhood cleanup ended Friday, and a cleanup organized by the Polynesian Association of Alaska took place at Mountain View Lion’s Park Tuesday evening, despite the rain.

Volunteers interested in Saturday’s event can meet by the clubhouse in the parking lot at 501 N. Pine St. at 9 a.m., according to the park foundation.
