Police respond to N. Flower Street gunfire

Neighbors talked about it in the street Monday afternoon: Did you hear the gunshots last night?

One resident said he heard around eight shots — one after the other — right around the corner, it seemed.

A representative from the Anchorage Police Department said dispatchers received multiple calls about the gunfire on the 300 block of N. Flower Street at 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, blocks away from the apartment where a teenage girl was fatally shot earlier this year, they found a damaged, “abandoned” green Intrepid and a shell casing on the ground.

But officers couldn’t find any suspects or victims, according to APD, and the car was impounded.

Bob Lincoln, a members of Mountain View’s neighborhood patrol, said he heard the shooting unfold in the area outside his Thompson Street home Monday. When he called police, he said, he was on hold for about 20 minutes before he was able to reach a dispatcher and report the gunshots.

The police department’s online crime mapping system shows Sunday night’s call was the third reported weapons violation in the neighborhood over the past month.
