A man was briefly hospitalized, then arrested on an unrelated charge, following two separate reports of gunfire in Mountain View Monday evening.
The first call came in around 5 p.m., said Dani Myren, a spokeswoman for the Anchorage Police Department. The caller described hearing multiple shots in a back alley, Myren said, and officers arrived at the 300 block of N. Klevin Street to find bullet fragments and shell casings. Myren said at least two nearby apartments were hit by bullets, but police found no suspects.
Around 11:30 p.m. the same day, Myren said, police responded to another report of gunshots heard on Mumford Street. They found shell casings at the scene, she said. Not long after that, 28-year-old Markin Giddins checked in to a local emergency room with a minor gunshot wound to his back. He said he was shot near Richmond Avenue and Taylor Street, Myren said.
Giddins was treated, released and subsequently arrested for failing to appear in court on an unrelated charge, according to APD.
Meanwhile, Myren said police are still investigating both instances of gunfire and no suspects have been identified.
