A community celebration at Mountain View Lions Park will mark World Refugee Day Friday.
The event is hosted by Catholic Social Services’ Refugee Assistance & Immigration Service, which served more than 575 people across Alaska last year. This marks the eighth year the program has hosted the celebration, presenting awards to communities and people who’ve welcomed refugees to Alaska and commemorating the occasion with a BBQ, children’s activities and live performances by a variety of entertainers.
The celebration is set to take place June 20 from 4-7 p.m.
